Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Olson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keo Kalanie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keo Kalanie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Forrest Olson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Forrest Olson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Keo Kalanie!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olson defending well as Kalanie loads up on a big left hand.
Olson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Olson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Olson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Kalanie trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Kalanie working to try and regain half guard.

Olson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kalanie to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kalanie shrugs it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalanie wants to hold on but Olson pushes him away.

Kalanie gets back to half guard.
Kalanie is looking to control Olson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kalanie avoid being mounted?
Kalanie is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Kalanie wants to control but Olson passes into side.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Kalanie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Olson stands up.
Kalanie tries to bum rush Olson with a series of wild strikes but Olson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kalanie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Olson circles away quickly and effectively.
As Kalanie looks to move away, Olson throws a big counter combo bu Kalanie just gets out of the way.

Kalanie pushes Olson up against the cage in a clinch.

Olson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Olson manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Olson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kalanie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Olson's guard! Nice work there by Kalanie!
Kalanie slips nicely into half guard.
Kalanie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Olson!
Kalanie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Olson is looking to escape.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kalanie misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Kalanie looking for a guillotine from mount but Olson is having none of it.
Olson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Olson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kalanie tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Kalanie trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kalanie throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Olson wants to control but Kalanie is having none of it.
Olson is breathing heavily.
Poor strikes thrown by Kalanie there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kalanie looking for a guillotine from mount but Olson is having none of it.
Kalanie tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keo Kalanie dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kalanie takes a swing at Olson's ribcage but misses.
Kalanie has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Olson is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Kalanie swings for the body but Olson moves out of range.
Olson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Olson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kalanie, which made it look bad.
Kalanie paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kalanie tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kalanie.
Olson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Olson avoids the body shot from Kalanie.
Kalanie throws a leg kick
enabling Olson to counter with a crisp jab.

Sloppy strikes from Kalanie. Those never looked like landing.

Kalanie has closed the distance and engaged Olson in a clinch.

Olson breaks the clinch.
Kalanie has his takedown stuffed

and Olson counters by clinching up.

Olson manages to break the clinch.
Kalanie with a hook.
Kalanie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Olson.
Kalanie connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Olson momentarily.
Olson moves out of range of the body kick.
Kalanie misses with a body kick.
Kalanie pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Kalanie is looking to score with low kicks.

Olson takes the fight into the clinch.

Olson manages to pull guard.
Kalanie forces his way into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Olson is trying to get back to full guard.
Kalanie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kalanie wants to pass to mount but Olson is defending the position.

Kalanie is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kalanie is trying to control. Olson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kalanie trying to control from Olson's half guard. Olson has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Olson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Kalanie trying to control the position from guard on top but Olson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kalanie tries to free his leg and advance position but Olson is retaining full guard.
Kalanie is looking to advance position but Olson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Kalanie gets back to half guard.
Kalanie wants to control but Olson is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keo Kalanie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kalanie misses with a shot to the body
and Olson counters with a low kick, right behind Kalanie 's knee.
Nice body punch from Kalanie.

Olson feints and as Kalanie raises his hands in defense, Olson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kalanie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Olson defends well.

Olson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalanie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Olson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Olson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kalanie on the ground.

Olson stands up over Kalanie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kalanie is trying to control the position but Olson postures up.

Kalanie has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Olson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Kalanie has tightened it up now! Olson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
