Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Venar throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Venar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Venar wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jones working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Venar's head.

It looks like El Venar has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Venar could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Venar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Venar lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jones backs up against the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jones has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jones digs a good hook to Venar's body.
Venar avoids a punch combination nicely.
Venar is looking for a counter combo.
A combination from Jones does no damage.
Venar swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Venar fails with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
As Jones tries to get set, Venar tries to push him back and clinch up but Jones manages to avoid the attempt.

Venar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
