PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Curt Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dolph Kruger Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kruger Jr comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kung Fu Fighting kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Dolph Kruger Jr has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Curt Alexander's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curt Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dolph Kruger Jr!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alexander gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kruger Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kruger Jr keeps Alexander at a distance using the push kick.
Alexander falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kruger Jr makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Alexander closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kruger Jr jumps into guard, dragging Alexander to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kruger Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alexander doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alexander manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Alexander throws an elbow that misses. Kruger Jr uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Alexander's guard. Nice move by Kruger Jr!

Kruger Jr has gone for a leg lock! Alexander slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kruger Jr's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alexander accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kruger Jr not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alexander loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kruger Jr pulls Alexander in close to prevent any damage.
Alexander really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kruger Jr moves in looking to clinch but Alexander pushes him off.
Alexander attempts a counter takedown but Kruger Jr avoids it well and moves away.

Kruger Jr looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Alexander has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Alexander is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Alexander manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Alexander manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kruger Jr manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Curt Alexander will probably get the nod.

Kruger Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Alexander tries to roll over but Kruger Jr keeps him under control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kruger Jr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Alexander is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dolph Kruger Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

As Kruger Jr tries to get set, Alexander tries to push him back and clinch up but Kruger Jr manages to avoid the attempt.

Alexander on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kruger Jr. Kruger Jr obviously looking to wear him down.
Alexander avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That kick from Kruger Jr tenderised Alexander's leg. Alexander is trying to keep his angry face on.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Kruger Jr feints and as Alexander raises his hands in defense, Kruger Jr changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Alexander wants to sweep here but Kruger Jr controlling him for the moment.
Kruger Jr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kruger Jr drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alexander looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alexander looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alexander!

Alexander tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alexander has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Alexander swings around for an armbar but Kruger Jr sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Alexander's guard.

Alexander manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Kruger Jr - that will leave a mark!
A head kick from Kruger Jr lands but Alexander takes it in his stride.
Kruger Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kruger Jr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kruger Jr lands a nice looking body shot.
Curt Alexander is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Alexander tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kruger Jr paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kruger Jr wants to counter with a clinch but Alexander pushes him away.
Alexander tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kruger Jr counters with a body kick that stops Alexander in his tracks momentarily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A quick step to the side and Alexander tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Dolph Kruger Jr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kruger Jr has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
