PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pyotr Korobeikin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Warring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warring is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lick my chocolate salty balls live by chef from South Park. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Marcus Warring enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pyotr Korobeikin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Warring!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warring throws a leg kick which misses Korobeikin's front leg but catches the back leg as Korobeikin tries to avoid it.
Warring will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Warring misses with a looping left.

Korobeikin has closed the distance and engaged Warring in a clinch.
Korobeikin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Warring gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Warring escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marcus Warring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Korobeikin moves into the clinch.
Korobeikin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Warring is defending well.
Korobeikin tries for a takedown but Warring manages to get underhooks.

Warring breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Warring has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Korobeikin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Korobeikin is working for takedown but Warring is calmly controlling the position for now.

Korobeikin drops back looking for a leg! Warring is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Warring manages to kick Korobeikin off! Korobeikin jumps back into Warring's guard.

Korobeikin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Warring really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Korobeikin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Warring is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Warring fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Korobeikin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Warring misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Warring throws a leg kick but Korobeikin sees it coming and moves out of range.

Good leg kick by Warring there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Warring walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Korobeikin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Warring rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Korobeikin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Warring fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Korobeikin is out of range.

Korobeikin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Korobeikin uses his free foot to push down on Warring's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Warring.
Warring holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Korobeikin tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pyotr Korobeikin will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Korobeikin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Warring on his heels. He'll look to pass Warring's guard now, I'm sure.
Korobeikin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've been hearing good reports from Korobeikin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Korobeikin is pushing down on Warring's leg trying to pass to half guard. Warring is fighting to maintain full guard but Korobeikin has managed to sneak the leg through.

Korobeikin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Korobeikin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Warring is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Warring tries to bum rush Korobeikin with a series of wild strikes but Korobeikin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Korobeikin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Korobeikin is working for a guillotine from mount but Warring frees his head quite easily.

A close second round but Marcus Warring will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Korobeikin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Korobeikin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Warring for as long as he can get away with.

Warring tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Korobeikin is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Korobeikin extends the arm and Warring is forced to tap!

Pyotr Korobeikin seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
