PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ceasar Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgan has chosen Fat Lip as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Nick Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ceasar Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan misses with a takedown attempt - Evans sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Morgan wants to clinch up but Evans keeps it at a distance.
Morgan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Evans tries to avoid it but Morgan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Evans to the ground. Evans escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Morgan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Evans but Evans pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nick Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ceasar Morgan.

Morgan wants to clinch up but Evans keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Evans enables Morgan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Evans manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Evans is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Evans is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Morgan has his hands clasped together around Evans's back. He's all about the action.

Morgan wants to get back to his feet but Evans is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Our spies down at at Death Valley Training Facility inform us that Morgan has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Morgan is looking for a triangle but Evans pushes his legs off easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Evans will probably get the nod.

Morgan goes for a double leg but Evans avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Evans continues to drive forward.
Evans dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Morgan. That did some damage!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Evans is on top in guard.

Evans fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Morgan manages to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Evans.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Evans, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
