PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between luke cummo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Enis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Enis has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! On his way into the cage it seems that luke cummo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily luke cummo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, luke cummo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Phil Enis!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Enis stuffs the takedown.
Enis looks gassed!
cummo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Enis swivels and escapes.

cummo scores a takedown into full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, cummo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
cummo with a couple of short strikes.


That has opened up Phil Enis's cut even more.

cummo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Enis is surviving well by controlling cummo's body position as best he can.

cummo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Enis is desperately trying to improve his position but cummo has a good base and remains in mount.
cummo with good strikes from the mount here!
cummo trying to control but he's not successful this time.

cummo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Enis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Enis is bucking up trying to escape but cummo cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Enis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

cummo is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Enis avoids a punch combination nicely.
cummo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for luke cummo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A decent looking cross lands there for cummo.

cummo clinches with his opponent.

cummo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Enis can't fight it off and eventually cummo manages to take the fight to the floor. Enis looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Enis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
cummo prevents Enis from getting back to his feet.

cummo gets to his feet - Enis follows without any prompting.

cummo tries to clinch up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
cummo dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

cummo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

cummo clinches.
cummo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Enis just stands there and leans against the cage.
cummo lands a left hand.
cummo landing knees to the head.

cummo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Enis uses from the top position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


cummo shoots for a takedown but Enis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

cummo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Enis to the mat! Enis manages to get full guard.

Enis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
cummo tries to stand but Enis is controlling from the bottom.
Enis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

cummo trying to control but Enis is working from the bottom.
cummo stands up over Enis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Enis controls cummo momentarily but cummo frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
cummo chips away with some ground and pound.
cummo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
cummo wants to get up but he can't break Enis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Enis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
cummo postures up and lands a big shot to Enis's brow.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as cummo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

cummo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Enis has momentary wrist control but cummo slips an elbow through the middle.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

cummo darts in and clinches Enis up against the cage.

cummo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Enis is trying to keep an underhook but cummo manages to get the takedown into half guard.
cummo wants to control but Enis is keeping him busy.
Enis moves into full guard.
cummo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Enis wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and cummo is now in half guard.

cummo seems to be working for a kimura but Enis defends the submission attempt.
Enis looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



cummo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Enis trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but cummo manages to pass to mount!
Enis reaches up to try and control the position but cummo seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Enis rolls and tries to escape and now cummo has his back!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

cummo tightening his grip on Enis, looking for the choke.
Enis looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

cummo looking for the choke but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Enis really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of cummo's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
luke cummo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Enis breaks cummo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Enis wants to control from the top but cummo keeps moving.

cummo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Enis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Enis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Phil Enis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
luke cummo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Enis scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for cummo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
