Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shayne Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cri Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cri Cross has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Shayne Reyes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shayne Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cri Cross !
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes throws a nice outside leg kick.
Cross looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Reyes throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Reyes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cross is fending him off so far but Reyes persists. Nope, Cross circles away and we're back to standing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Reyes.

Reyes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cross has escaped the position, nice work there.
Reyes really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Reyes throws a strike aimed at the side of Cross 's head but Cross avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reyes trying to control the action but Cross is working from the bottom.
Reyes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cross is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Reyes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cross has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Reyes but great work by Cross .
Reyes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Reyes is looking to regain half guard here but Cross keeps moving and retains side control.
Cross lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Reyes down.
Cross throws an elbow but Reyes slips to the side and avoids it well.

Reyes wants to control but Cross postures up.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cross working his ground and pound in the gym.
Reyes tries to improve position but can't.
Reyes is not content to let Cross control the position.
Cross controls the position.
Reyes takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Reyes really is a fat lump.
Reyes gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cross wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reyes keeps working.
Reyes trying to hold on to Cross 's head to control him but Cross postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cross prevents Reyes from standing back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Reyes gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Reyes manages to break the clinch.
Reyes has a takedown stuffed.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cross gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reyes to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Cross not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reyes won't allow Cross to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reyes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cross misses with a kick to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Cross as Reyes shoots in.

Reyes gets a clinch.
Reyes creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Cross turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Cross is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cross is breathing heavily.
Reyes tries to improve position but can't.
Reyes wants to control but Cross postures up.

Reyes holds on to Cross 's head and controls the position momentarily.
Reyes tries to escape but Cross is in control.

Cross looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Reyes can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cross avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Reyes moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Reyes has closed the distance and engaged Cross in a clinch.

Reyes pulls guard effortlessly.
Reyes striking off his back but it's not causing Cross any problems.
Reyes looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cross missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Reyes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cross tries to get to full guard but Reyes has control of the leg.

Reyes wants to work for an arm triangle but Cross is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Cross is trying to control but can't.
Cross trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Reyes controlling his opponent.
Reyes landing punches.
Reyes looking to control but Cross is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Cross really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Reyes breaks from Cross 's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Shayne Reyes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cross can't escape the position.
Reyes trying to control but Cross is having none of it.

Cross keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Reyes scores with a jab. Cross acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Cross throws a chopping leg kick but Reyes manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Reyes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cross quickly recovers to half guard.
Cross wants to get back to full guard.
Reyes wants to control but Cross is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Reyes in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cross takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Reyes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Reyes trying to control the pace.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Reyes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cross is just riding it out for now. Reyes eventually gives up the hold.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Reyes shoots in for a double leg but Cross sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reyes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cross defends well and Reyes ends up having to push Cross into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Reyes shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shayne Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A punch combination from Cross misses.
Reyes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cross pinned against the cage. Cross gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Reyes moves out of range of the leg kick from Cross .
Reyes attempts a counter takedown but Cross avoids it well and moves away.
Cross stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cross wants it to stay on the feet.

Reyes gets tackled into the cage by Cross . Cross maintains the clinch.

Reyes is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cross can't fight it off and eventually Reyes manages to take the fight to the floor. Cross looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Reyes's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Reyes wants to control from the top but Cross keeps moving.

Reyes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cross works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Cross had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reyes defends it easily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Reyes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cross 's waist but Cross gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reyes off to one side.

Cross moves into range and clinches up with Reyes.
Cri Cross has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shayne Reyes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Reyes drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cross pulls his leg out and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shayne Reyes.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reyes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
