Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rolland Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zane The Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zane The Kid!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Winston Howard and Topper Green.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Kid rushes Owen and presses him up against the cage.

The Kid pulls Owen into guard.
Owen is looking to work some ground and pound but The Kid has wrist control.
The Kid is trying to control the position but Owen postures up.
The Kid might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Owen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now The Kid is on top in guard.

The Kid slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The Kid works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The Kid is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Owen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The Kid has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Owen uses from the top position.

The Kid has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Owen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for The Kid.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The Kid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - The Kid lands in his opponent's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The Kid fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Owen, pushing him back against the cage.

The Kid misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

The Kid gets control of Owen's arms and successfully pulls guard. The Kid will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Owen stands and steps away. The Kid gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Owen has picked The Kid up - he's going for a ride! Owen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
