PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Baxter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McClane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baxter comes to the cage accompanied by Thunder. McClane comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jesus Built My Hotrod kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John McClane told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Freddy Baxter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, John McClane!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baxter moves out of range as McClane throws a body kick.
It looked like Baxter wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Baxter walks into a left hand.
Baxter scores with a decent looking hook.
Baxter misses with a straight left.
McClane misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
John McClane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McClane fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Baxter checks it well.
McClane tests Baxter's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like John McClane has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McClane scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Baxter doesn't seem bothered though.
McClane digs a good body shot into Baxter's ribs.

McClane ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

McClane throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Baxter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Baxter counters with a stiff right hand.

Baxter throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
McClane steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Baxter.

McClane stuns Baxter with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
McClane fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Baxter manages to avoid it.

Baxter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McClane moves away.
McClane is looking to slow Baxter down with leg kicks.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McClane uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Baxter.

McClane fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Baxter has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Baxter has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Baxter wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

McClane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Baxter lands a big uppercut and McClane crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but McClane looks OK. Baxter waves McClane back to his feet!


McClane is rocked!

Baxter needs to keep his hands up - McClane had a free shot at his head there.
McClane is still on wobbly legs! Can Baxter finish him?
Baxter tries to clinch up.
Baxter lunges in with a left hook that violently twists McClane head around and knocks him out cold! Baxter hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
