Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronaldo Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
39 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Hughs!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faber shoots in for a takedown but Hughs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hughs throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Ronaldo Faber has been cut.
Hughs has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Faber finds it's way round the side to connect with Hughs's head.
Hughs darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Faber looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Faber wants to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faber is trying to control but can't.
Faber slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Faber is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Faber has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hughs should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Faber has tightened it up now! Hughs should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
