PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy Pitbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pitbull has chosen Swiming Pools - Kendrick Lamar as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tom Robinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paddy Pitbull!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitbull will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Pitbull gets caught napping as Robinson dives in and scores a takedown. Pitbull manages to retain guard.
Robinson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pitbull has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Robinson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Robinson wants to take the fight to the mat but Pitbull manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Robinson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pitbull.

Robinson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pitbull leaves Robinson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Robinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Robinson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pitbull tries to clinch there but Robinson circles away.
Robinson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Robinson throws the kick towards the body but Pitbull avoids it.
Pitbull looks to land a combination. Robinson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Pitbull scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pitbull takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pitbull looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pitbull wants to stand but Robinson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tom Robinson will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Pitbull fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Robinson tries to clinch but Pitbull is having none of it.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Robinson holds on and takes a little breather.
Pitbull working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Robinson's head.
Robinson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pitbull sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Robinson's guard.
Pitbull has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pitbull stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Robinson darts in and clinches Pitbull up against the cage.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Pitbull tries to break the clinch but Robinson is controlling the position.
Pitbull tries to pull guard but Robinson holds him up against the cage and eventually Pitbull drops back down to his feet.

Paddy Pitbull showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Robinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pitbull's waist but Pitbull gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robinson off to one side.

Pitbull wants to get up but he can't break Robinson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Robinson has his foot on Pitbull's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pitbull works his way back into a safe position though.

Pitbull dives in and grabs Robinson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Robinson pushes down on Pitbull's head and hops out.

Robinson attempts a counter takedown but Pitbull avoids it well and moves away.

Robinson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Robinson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Robinson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pitbull has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Robinson has managed to get both his arms back between Pitbull's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tom Robinson.
I think Robinson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Paddy Pitbull decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
