Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Luis Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Annuaku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joseph Annuaku has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Luis Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joseph Annuaku!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Diaz showed some decent athleticism there.
Diaz working over Annuaku with some ground and pound. Annuaku looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Annuaku still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Annuaku has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Diaz is looking for a sweep.
Diaz is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Annuaku's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Diaz is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Annuaku is very close to passing his half guard.

Annuaku is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Annuaku tries to pass the half guard into mount. Diaz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Annuaku is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Diaz throws an elbow that misses. Annuaku uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diaz's guard. Nice move by Annuaku!

Diaz keeping moving, preventing Annuaku from controlling successfully.
Annuaku with a flurry of punches that miss.
Diaz wants to control the position but Annuaku says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Diaz wants to sweep but Annuaku has passed to side control!
Diaz is looking to regain half guard here but Annuaku keeps moving and retains side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Luis Diaz will probably get the nod.

Annuaku will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Annuaku shows good takedown defense.

Annuaku lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Diaz backs up against the cage.
Diaz leaves Annuaku with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Annuaku doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Annuaku manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Diaz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Diaz tries for a takedown but Annuaku sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Annuaku is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Joseph Annuaku showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Diaz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Annuaku with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Diaz wants to work for an arm triangle but Annuaku is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Diaz passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Annuaku gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Annuaku keeps working.

Annuaku utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Diaz stands up over Annuaku, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Diaz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Annuaku has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diaz has managed to get both his arms back between Annuaku's legs - danger averted.
Diaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Diaz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Annuaku manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diaz has Annuaku in his guard.

Diaz is really struggling to control Annuaku but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Annuaku wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Annuaku sprawls well. Annuaku wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jose Luis Diaz.
I think Diaz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
