Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Markus Burt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Royce Holliday!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holliday throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Burt stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Holliday clinches up with Burt and pushes him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Holliday's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Burt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Holliday throws a leg kick but Burt sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Jab by Holliday.
Burt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Holliday sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Burt somewhat.
Holliday misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Holliday clinches.
Holliday is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Burt pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Burt wants to take the fight to the mat but Holliday manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Burt really is a fat lump.

Burt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Holliday throws a right and a left that Burt avoids nicely.
Burt takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Holliday tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Holliday gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Holliday is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Holliday scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holliday thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Burt's head.
Burt wants to improve his position but Holliday is controlling well.
Holliday controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Holliday is looking for a kimura here.
Burt taking some punishment here, with Holliday in his half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Burt is concentrating on defense, preventing Holliday from advancing position.
Burt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Burt wants to control but Holliday is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Holliday with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Holliday is nestled in close to Burt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Burt trying to control from the bottom.
Holliday working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Holliday has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Burt is not content to let Holliday control the position.
Burt is looking to improve his position.
Holliday not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Holliday seems to be working for a kimura but Burt defends the submission attempt.
Holliday slows the pace down in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Holliday has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Burt defend it? Holliday steps over the head and cranks it - Burt is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Holliday!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Royce Holliday!
Royce Holliday decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
