And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Vardey!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Searl throws a right hand that Vardey ducks under and follows up with a left that Vardey also avoids with ease.
A right-left combo lands from Searl.


It looks like Ryan Vardey has been cut.

Searl takes the fight into the clinch.
Vardey trying to land knees to the body.
Searl has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Searl is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Vardey fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Vardey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Searl gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Colton Searl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Vardey.

Searl escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Searl clinches up with Vardey and pushes him back against the ropes.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Searl.
Searl lands a shoulder strike.

Searl is trying to push Vardey away but Vardey has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Searl lands a nice uppercut.
Vardey managing to block the knees to the body from Searl.
Searl lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Vardey is trying to maintain a safe position but Searl gets an underhook and turns Vardey into the ropes.
Vardey goes for a takedown in the clinch but Searl prevents it.
Vardey looks winded!
Searl is trying to break the clinch but Vardey has him pressed against the ropes.

Vardey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Searl moves into the clinch.
Vardey is trying to pull guard but Searl turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.
Searl can't break the clinch.
Vardey on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vardey is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Searl to keep the fight standing.
Searl is trying to break free.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vardey has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Vardey has Searl pressed against the ropes, preventing Searl from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've been hearing reports that Searl has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Vardey fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Searl wants to break free but Vardey has control.
Searl tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Vardey avoids it.
Vardey is trying to stall.
Vardey is trying to break the clinch but Searl has him pressed against the ropes.
Searl lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Searl looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Searl is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Vardey is trying to maintain a safe position but Searl gets an underhook and turns Vardey into the ropes.
Vardey prevents Searl from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Searl's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Vardey looking for a takedown.
Searl looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Vardey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Searl gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Vardey goes for a takedown attempt but Searl pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Vardey walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Searl goes for a small jab and connects. Now Searl goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Vardey stumbles back but Searl runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Vardey to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Vardey will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Colton Searl!
