The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe goes for a double leg but Benoit avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Benoit continues to drive forward.

Benoit darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monroe tries to kick Benoit off but Benoit keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Benoit passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Monroe!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Benoit has control of Monroe's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Monroe regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Monroe tries to hold on but Benoit pushes him away.

Benoit swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Monroe is now in Benoit's guard. A big mistake from Benoit there, giving up the dominant position!

Benoit wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Monroe is posturing up here but Benoit has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Monroe tries to roll out but it's too tight and Monroe has to tap! Slick submission there by Benoit!
