The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bojangles throws a poor cross that misses
and Laranja counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Laranja looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Laranja is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laranja controlling the pace for now.
Bojangles tries to lock up and control but Laranja gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bojangles has left one of his arms exposed and Laranja doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Bojangles screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Renato Laranja!
A relieved looking Renato Laranja thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
