PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Coleman Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Curtin Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Curtin Jr has chosen All the others as his entrance music. Sam Curtin Jr will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Coleman Skinner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Curtin Jr!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Curtin Jr drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Skinner explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Nice sprawl there from Curtin Jr as Skinner shoots in.
Curtin Jr throws a sloppy head kick

and Skinner counters with a nice double leg into side control. Curtin Jr won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Skinner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Skinner shoots for a takedown but Curtin Jr saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Curtin Jr closes the distance and clinches.

Curtin Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Curtin Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Curtin Jr looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Skinner with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Curtin Jr throws a big elbow that misses.
Curtin Jr postures up in Skinner's guard and throws a big left but Skinner blocks it.
Skinner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Curtin Jr wants to control from the top but Skinner keeps moving.
Curtin Jr throws an elbow that misses. Skinner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Curtin Jr's guard. Nice move by Skinner!
Curtin Jr wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Skinner is now in half guard.
Curtin Jr tries to get to full guard but Skinner has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Curtin Jr wants to sweep but Skinner has passed to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skinner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Skinner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Curtin Jr throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Curtin Jr is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Skinner off and has taken his back!
Curtin Jr is throwing shots to the body but Skinner manages to wriggle free. Curtin Jr pounces on him again and ends up in Skinner's guard.

Skinner pulls Curtin Jr in close to prevent any damage.

Curtin Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Skinner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Skinner has escaped and now he's on top!

Curtin Jr is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Skinner dives into side control.
Skinner really is a fat lump.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Skinner decides to stand back up.

Curtin Jr shoots in and gets a takedown into Skinner's guard.

Skinner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Curtin Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Skinner is tightening it up a little... Curtin Jr has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Curtin Jr reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Curtin Jr taps out! Nice BJJ there by Skinner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Coleman Skinner!
