The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima dives in and grabs Joyner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Joyner pushes down on Lima's head and hops out.

and Joyner counters with a right hand to the body.

Joyner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lima was covering up waiting for the punch and Joyner finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lima is looking for a triangle but Joyner pushes his legs off easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lima will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lima is on top in guard.

Joyner wants to stand and escape but Lima is having none of it.
Joyner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Joyner controls Lima momentarily but Lima frees himself.

Lima lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Joyner shoots in and bounces Lima off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ronaldo Lima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Joyner is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lima fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joyner, pushing him back against the cage.

Joyner decides to pull guard.
Joyner wants to get back to his feet but Lima is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lima tries to clinch but Joyner moves out of range.

Lima closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lima pushes off an throws an elbow but Joyner leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Lima seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
