PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colin Winner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jax Marciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colin Winner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jax Marciano!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Winner moves into range and clinches up with Marciano.

Winner manages to break the clinch.
Marciano tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A head kick misses from Winner.
A little jabbing left from Marciano on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Marciano with a poor takedown

and Winner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Marciano pushes Winner off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Marciano gets tackled into the cage by Winner. Winner maintains the clinch.
Winner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Marciano has him pressed against the cage.
Winner tries to pull guard but Marciano won't allow it.
Marciano should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Winner taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Marciano tries for a takedown. No joy.
Winner is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Winner dodges an elbow strike from Marciano.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marciano has had enough of the clinch but Winner keeps him there for the moment.
Winner goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Winner breaks the clinch.

Winner looking to score a takedown here. Marciano is defending well but Winner drives through and ends up in Marciano's guard.
Marciano looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Winner stopping the sweep attempt from Marciano.
Winner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Winner wants to pass the guard but Marciano is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Marciano has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Winner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Marciano.
Winner wants to stand but Marciano is controlling his arm.
Winner takes a little break here. Marciano wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Winner is looking to take a break and control but Marciano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Winner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Winner uses his free foot to push down on Marciano's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Marciano.
Marciano wants to hold on but Winner pushes him away.
Marciano manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Winner is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Marciano is just riding it out for now. Winner eventually gives up the hold.
Winner throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Marciano to regain full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marciano is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Winner wants to stand but Marciano has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colin Winner dominated that round.
That's time! Winner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Horrible takedown attempt by Winner or perhaps it was just good defense by Marciano, which made it look bad.
Marciano ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Winner moves away.
Winner misses with the body kick
enabling Marciano to counter with a crisp jab.
Colin Winner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Winner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Winner or perhaps it was just good defense by Marciano, which made it look bad.
Winner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Marciano lands a big head kick that sends Winner tumbling to the mat! Marciano takes a step backwards and waves Winner back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Colin Winner has been cut.
The fighters circle, before Marciano throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Winner's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Marciano lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Jax Marciano!
