PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Knuckle Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Gimme Shelter. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Knuckle Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Gunn!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunn looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

A little jabbing left from Gunn on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Gunn lands a nice hook to Stone's body. Stone takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Stone's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gunn connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Stone scrambles back to his feet.

Stone takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Stone looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

It seemed like Gunn was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Gunn connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Chris Gunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Knuckle Stone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gunn bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stone's head.

Stone fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gunn manages to avoid it.

Gunn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Gunn postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gunn tries to score with some ground and pound. Stone controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Gunn sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Stone is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Gunn throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Stone works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Gunn working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Gunn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gunn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gunn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Stone controls Gunn momentarily but Gunn frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Gunn has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stone gets caught napping as Gunn dives in and scores a takedown. Stone manages to retain guard.

Gunn is working Stone over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gunn wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.
Stone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Stone is trying to keep Gunn in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gunn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gunn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gunn chips away with some ground and pound.

and Stone takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stone misses with a head kick.
Gunn might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Gunn lands with an uppercut that bounces Stone off the cage and back into range.

Gunn dips to his left and cracks Stone with an uppercut!


Stone is rocked!
Gunn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Stone stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Stone is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gunn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Stone seems to have got his legs back now.
Gunn lands with a good body shot.
Stone throws a head kick that misses
and Gunn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Stone takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gunn lands with a shot to the body.

Stone on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Gunn fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Stone to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Stone looks to clinch but Gunn throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Stone taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Chris Gunn!
An out of breath Chris Gunn thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
