And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bago Biga!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halverson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Biga. Biga obviously looking to wear him down.
Biga has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Halverson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Halverson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Biga is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Halverson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Biga had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Halverson defends it easily.

Biga escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Halverson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Biga has his foot on Halverson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Halverson works his way back into a safe position though.

We've been hearing good reports from Halverson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Biga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Halverson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Halverson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Halverson seems to be working for a kimura but Biga defends the submission attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Halverson lands a nice short elbow.
Halverson lands a big elbow - Biga is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Halverson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thatcher Halverson!

A less than humble Thatcher Halverson misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
