PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stipe Mikas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kick Benderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benderson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Swiming Pools - Kendrick Lamar. Kick Benderson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kick Benderson!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Benderson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mikas on his heels. He'll look to pass Mikas's guard now, I'm sure.

Benderson wants to stand but Mikas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Benderson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mikas wants to hit a switch here but Benderson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mikas there!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mikas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Benderson is looking to take a break and control but Mikas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mikas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Benderson is working away from the top position though.
Mikas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Benderson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Benderson's back!
Mikas controlling the position well here. Benderson rolled but Mikas kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Mikas lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Mikas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mikas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Benderson's guard.

Mikas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mikas passes Benderson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mikas wants to control but Benderson is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kick Benderson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mikas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Benderson's head.
Mikas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Benderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Benderson is trying to stand up here but Mikas is controlling him well.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mikas thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mikas working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mikas connects with a nice short shot to Benderson's temple.

Mikas winds up and cracks Benderson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mikas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Benderson can do to turn this around?
Mikas is taking a breather. Benderson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mikas lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Benderson is trying to stand up here but Mikas is controlling him well.

Benderson is looking for a sweep. Mikas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Benderson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Mikas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Mikas is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Benderson!

Mikas wants to control the pace but Benderson is squirming around nicely.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mikas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mikas has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Benderson's face.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's time! Mikas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I would just about give that final round to Kick Benderson.
I think Benderson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
