The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tompson is trying to break the clinch but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
Smith has Tompson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tompson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Tompson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tompson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Tompson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Smith momentarily.

Tompson lands a left and a right that send Smith crashing to the mat, dazed. Tompson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tompson closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Smith out cold! Smith corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
