The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but O Connell avoids it really well and circles away.
Rodriguez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
O Connell avoids a kick to the body.
Rodriguez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rodriguez falls off balance throwing a combination
and O Connell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rodriguez won't be happy with that.

It looks like Gilbert Rodriguez has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Connell cracks Rodriguez with an elbow. That is naaassty.
O Connell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rodriguez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Rodriguez is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Rodriguez is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but O Connell couldn't care less - he's delighted!
