Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Mcguire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Assmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rich Assmo will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assmo stuffs the takedown attempt from Mcguire. Mcguire gets slowly back to his feet.

Assmo instigates a clinch.

Assmo jumps guard.

Mcguire postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Assmo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mcguire, into his guard.
Assmo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcguire looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Mcguire bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Assmo's guard.

Mcguire missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mcguire cracks Assmo with a solid left hand.
Mcguire loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mcguire lands a couple of elbows.
Mcguire throws a strike but Assmo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mcguire wants to hit a switch here but Assmo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mcguire there!

Mcguire wants to improve his position but Assmo is controlling well.

Let's hope that Assmo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Assmo seems to be looking for submissions.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Assmo is trying to work for a kimura but Mcguire is defending well.
Assmo misses with a head shot. Mcguire uses the momentum to regain guard.
Mcguire looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Assmo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcguire swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mcguire might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Assmo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mcguire looking to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mcguire closes this distance looking for a takedown but Assmo circles away.
Mcguire tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Assmo defends well and Mcguire ends up having to push Assmo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Mcguire pushes Assmo off and gets back to his feet.

Mcguire swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyle Mcguire will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Assmo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mcguire's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Assmo postures up.
Assmo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mcguire works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Assmo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Assmo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Assmo wants to control but Mcguire is keeping him busy.
Mcguire is trying to get back to full guard.
Mcguire is pressing down on Assmo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Assmo stays in close to Mcguire's body and controls the position.
Mcguire looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Assmo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Assmo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Mcguire avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Assmo.
Assmo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Mcguire really is a fat lump.
Mcguire is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Assmo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Assmo's back!
Assmo looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Mcguire tightening his grip on Assmo, looking for the choke.

Assmo trying to control the position but Mcguire manages to sink in the hooks.
Assmo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mcguire's guard. Nice work there by Assmo.

Assmo wants to control from the top but Mcguire keeps moving.

Assmo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rich Assmo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Assmo lands a big head kick that sends Mcguire tumbling to the mat! Assmo takes a step backwards and waves Mcguire back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Kyle Mcguire has been cut.
Assmo scores with a shot to the body.
Oh Mcguire is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Assmo pushes Mcguire up against the cage in a clinch.

Assmo decides to pull guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Assmo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mcguire off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Assmo shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Assmo slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Assmo lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.
