The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dawson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alexander manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dawson throws a big right hand that misses.

Dawson stands up from Alexander's guard - Dawson perhaps looking for a knockout.
Dawson looks to score with a jab to the body but Alexander is just out of range.
Alexander steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dawson.

Dawson throws the left hand but Alexander avoids the punch easily.

Dawson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alexander wants to improve his position but Dawson is controlling well.
Alexander gets back to full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alexander is working an open guard so Dawson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Alexander really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dawson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
