Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Rossi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Rossi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brian Mac's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Rossi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Mac!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mac looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mac shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Mac stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Horrible takedown by Rossi or perhaps it was just good defense by Mac which made him look bad.
Rossi moves in looking to clinch but Mac pushes him off.
Rossi blocks a leg kick.
No luck for Rossi with that takedown attempt.

Mac changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rossi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rossi gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Mac takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mac trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Mac lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Rossi wants to try and get back to his feet.

Mac fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oh Rossi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Rossi wants to control but Mac is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rossi tries to reverse the position but Mac maintains control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rossi wants to hold on but Mac pushes him away.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Mac swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Mac jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rossi is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rossi and Mac has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Rossi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rossi drives through and clinches with Mac against the cage.

Mac fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jim Rossi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rossi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mac landing with the ground and pound.
Mac pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rossi is keeping the position for now.

Mac stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rossi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mac throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rossi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rossi is trying to keep Mac in close.

Mac stands up and waves to Rossi to follow him.
Mac stuffs the takedown.

Brian Mac showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Mac fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rossi, pushing him back against the cage.
Rossi keeps control of Mac as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rossi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Mac has picked Rossi up - he's going for a ride! Mac dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Mac seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rossi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mac takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mac is looking to take a break and control but Rossi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rossi manages to get to full guard.

Mac keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rossi's head.
Mac trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rossi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mac clinches up against the cage.
Mac lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Mac gets through Rossi's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Rossi is trying to drag Mac to the mat but Mac just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Rossi tries to stall but Mac uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Rossi.

Mac turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mac manages to end up in side control.
Rossi is trying to control Mac's posture but Mac avoids it.

You can see the frustration on Rossi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice sprawl there from Mac as Rossi shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Rossi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mac scores with a decent looking hook.
Mac has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rossi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mac's waist but Mac gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rossi off to one side.

Mac closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mac lands in his opponent's guard.
Mac postures up in Rossi's guard and throws a big left but Rossi blocks it.

Mac is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Mac regains half guard.
Mac moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Rossi looking to sit in guard and control but Mac gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mac wants to control from the top but Rossi keeps moving.
Jim Rossi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rossi is looking for a triangle but Mac pushes his legs off easily.
Rossi trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brian Mac comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mac has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
