PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sirus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Normandy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sirus Jones had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Sirus Jones has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Normandy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Normandy uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jones.
Normandy lands with a kick to the temple. Jones shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Normandy lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jones takes a step back to recover.
Normandy throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Jones seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Normandy should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jones, as that shot connected.

Normandy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Normandy wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it.

Jones holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jones pulls Normandy in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sirus Jones will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Normandy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Normandy is rocked!
Normandy takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Normandy is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
Normandy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jones lands with a hook. Normandy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Jones connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Normandy's hands.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Normandy can do to turn this around?
It's a brutal combination of punches from Jones! Normandy is backing up but he can't get away as Jones lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Normandy and ends the fight. Great knockout.

An out of breath Sirus Jones thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
