The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Lucas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Aguinaldo's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aguinaldo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Lucas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lucas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Aguinaldo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lucas has passed into side control.
You can see the frustration on Aguinaldo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lucas throws an elbow but Aguinaldo slips to the side and avoids it well.

Aguinaldo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Lucas thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Aguinaldo to regain full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Aguinaldo wants to control the position but Lucas says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Aguinaldo is trying to control Lucas's posture. Lucas takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Aguinaldo! Lucas is rotating here... this could be the end... Aguinaldo is out! Lucas has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
