Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donald Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Gap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Donald Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Patrick Gap!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gap clinches.

Davis has hold of one of Gap's legs. Gap is fighting the takedown attempt but Davis gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Davis is looking to work some ground and pound but Gap has wrist control.
Gap controls Davis momentarily but Davis frees himself.
Gap keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.
Gap is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gap can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gap had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Davis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gap Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Davis's back instead.

Gap working for a choke but Davis is defending well.
Gap is trying to stick to Davis's back but Davis is turning into Gap. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gap's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Davis.
Gap is trying to control the position but Davis postures up.

Gap is looking for a triangle but Davis pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gap is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gap swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Davis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gap is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gap has escaped and now he's on top!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Davis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gap has gone for a leg lock! Davis slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gap's guard.

Davis trying to control but Gap is working from the bottom.

Davis stands up over Gap, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Davis wants to control from the top but Gap keeps moving.
Davis won't allow Gap to sweep him here.

Davis distracts Gap with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Davis is in close to Gap's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Davis lands a couple of digs.

Davis drops back looking for a leg! Gap is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gap manages to kick Davis off! Davis jumps back into Gap's guard.

Davis has gone for a leg lock! Gap slips out almost immediately though and dives into Davis's guard.
Gap trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.

Davis throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Gap wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.

Gap stands and steps away. Davis gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Davis shoots in for a takedown but Gap shows good takedown defense.
Davis shoots in and drives through. Gap sprawls well.

Gap scores a takedown into full mount!

Gap wants to finish this one by submission but Davis is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gap.
Davis is squirming around, avoiding Gap's attempts to control the action.

Gap is landing with some decent strikes but Davis is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Davis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Gap has control of Davis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Davis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Davis throwing hammer fists to the chest of Gap. What's that going to do exactly?
Davis wants to hold on but Gap pushes him away.

Gap is working for a guillotine from mount but Davis frees his head quite easily.
Gap misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Patrick Gap will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Davis fails with the takedown
and Gap counters with a right hand to the body.

Gap feints and as Davis raises his hands in defense, Gap changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Davis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gap has passed into side control.
Davis sneaks back into half guard.
Gap trying to control from half guard but Davis is working away.
Gap wants to pass to mount but Davis is defending the position.

Davis is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gap pulls his head out easily.
Gap is keen to just control but Davis is a slippery customer.
Davis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gap frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gap is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Davis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Davis!

Gap escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Davis drops back looking for a leg! Gap is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gap manages to kick Davis off! Davis jumps back into Gap's guard.

Davis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gap wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gap darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Gap is working for a submission of some sort.

Gap is looking for a kimura but Davis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gap to get the leverage.

Davis looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Gap escapes and gets back to his feet.
Donald Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gap.
Davis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gap off and has taken his back!

Gap tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gap has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gap content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Patrick Gap is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Gap has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
