PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Santo Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fresh Meat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Meat's choice of entrance music: Drowning Pool - Bodies. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fresh Meat!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meat throws a hook but Bruce blocks it.
Bruce slips a jab and a cross from Meat.
Nice straight punches there by Bruce. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bruce.
Bruce closes this distance looking for a takedown but Meat circles away.
Bruce moves away from the strike by Meat.
Meat misses with the combination.
Bruce lands a jab to the nose.

Bruce has managed to clinch.

Bruce's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice sprawl there from Meat as Bruce shoots in.
Meat unleashes a big counter combination but Bruce bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Meat fails to land with a series of punches.
Meat misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

A quick step to the side and Bruce tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Meat throws an overhand right that lands on Bruce's shoulder, as Bruce tries to avoid the shot.

Meat thows a left - swing and a miss!

Bruce gets a clinch.

Bruce escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bruce moves away from the strike by Meat.

Bruce wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
A combination from Meat does no damage.

and Bruce counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bruce misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Meat.

Meat connects with a nice looking jab.
Bruce really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bruce gets the takedown into side control.

Meat sneaks out the side door and pushes Bruce away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bruce rushes Meat and presses him up against the cage.
Bruce blocks an elbow strike from Meat.
Meat wants to get back to striking at distance but Bruce won't allow it.
Bruce is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bruce has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Meat is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Meat tries to circle away but Bruce has him pinned against the cage.
Meat is trying to break the clinch but Bruce is controlling him.
Meat has had enough of the clinch but Bruce keeps him there for the moment.

Bruce pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Meat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fresh Meat dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bruce tries to clinch up but Meat circles away and keeps his distance.

Meat might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Meat is trying to push Bruce away but Bruce has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Meat manages to break the clinch.
Meat throws a combination that misses

and Bruce holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bruce is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Bruce escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Meat throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bruce throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Meat was covering up waiting for the punch and Bruce finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bruce stands up over Meat, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bruce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Meat scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Bruce ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meat moves away.
Bruce lands the left hand.

Bruce gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Meat has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Bruce has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meat avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Meat keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Meat is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Meat looks to throw the jab but Bruce is out of range.
Bruce connects with a nice looking jab.
Meat has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Meat throws a series of punches but Bruce moves out of range.
Meat fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


Bruce is rocked!
Meat swats away the attempt to clinch by Bruce.
Oh Bruce is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bruce gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Meat points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Bruce wakes up just in time to hear Meat thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fresh Meat!
During a confident post fight interview, Fresh Meat thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
