PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Craig Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michal Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunt drives through and clinches with Edwards against the cage.
Hunt working hard to break the clinch.

Hunt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Edwards manages to pull guard.
Hunt wants to control from the top but Edwards keeps moving.

Hunt fails with the takedown

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunt wants to pass the guard but Edwards is keeping the position.

Edwards manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Edwards turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Edwards manages to end up in side control.
We've been hearing that Edwards has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Hunt takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Hunt tries to bench press Edwards off him but Edwards keeps the position.

Edwards is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hunt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Edwards cracks Hunt with a big elbow.

Edwards goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hunt rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Edwards's guard! Nice work there by Hunt!
Hunt wants to control from the top but Edwards keeps moving.
Edwards might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Edwards pulls Hunt in close to prevent any damage.
Edwards's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hunt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Edwards counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Edwards.

Edwards working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Edwards has Hunt pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Edwards pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hunt tumbling to the mat - Edwards dives into Hunt's guard.

Hunt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Edwards wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hunt is trying to control Edwards's posture but Edwards avoids it.

Craig Edwards overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Edwards is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hunt can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hunt is bucking up trying to escape but Edwards cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Edwards lands a couple of good shots and Hunt has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Edwards is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hunt is defending well though. Edwards let's go of the attempt for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Edwards has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hunt has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Hunt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Edwards sprawls well. Edwards wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hunt gets slowly back to his feet.
Edwards wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
