PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hiro Rikishi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Murakami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rikishi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to USA nuked my parents, I want revenge. Hiro Rikishi has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiro Rikishi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Murakami!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rikishi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Murakami looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Murakami is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rikishi throwing strikes from guard but Murakami blocks nicely.
Rikishi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Murakami's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Hiro Rikishi will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rikishi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rikishi tries for a takedown but Murakami sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rikishi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murakami swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiro Rikishi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Murakami decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Akira Murakami showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Rikishi drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Murakami tries to bench press Rikishi off him but Rikishi keeps the position.
Murakami manages to get back to half guard.
Murakami is looking to control Rikishi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Murakami avoid being mounted?
Murakami is staying active underneath Rikishi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rikishi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Murakami is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Murakami is pressing down on Rikishi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Murakami has his feet on Rikishi's thighs here. He's pushed Rikishi off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Rikishi screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
