PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karol Cropp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dre Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karol Cropp!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dre Parker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cropp moves in looking to clinch but Parker pushes him off.
Cropp fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Parker is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Cropp throws out a loose jab but Parker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cropp has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Vicious Striking in the buildup to the fight.

It looks like Dre Parker has been cut.
Cropp takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Parker clinches up with Cropp and pushes him back against the ropes.
Cropp drops down looking for an ankle pick but Parker pulls his leg out and moves away.
Parker tries to clinch but Cropp moves out of range.

Parker closes the distance and clinches.
Parker wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cropp goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Cropp is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Parker pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karol Cropp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parker wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Cropp working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Parker blocks a body shot from Cropp.
Nice body punch from Cropp - that landed with a thud.

Cropp escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cropp wants to clinch up but Parker keeps it at a distance.

A big head kick from Parker and Cropp is sent sprawling to the canvas!


It looks like Karol Cropp has been cut.

Parker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cropp has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Parker has managed to get both his arms back between Cropp's legs - danger averted.
Cropp wants to stand up but Parker is controlling him.
Cropp is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cropp thows a huge punch but Parker dodges it nicely.
Cropp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Parker looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cropp throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Parker to regain full guard.
Cropp postures up in Parker's guard and throws a big left but Parker blocks it.
Cropp is looking to work some ground and pound but Parker has wrist control.
Cropp trying to control but Parker is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cropp postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cropp working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Parker keeping moving, preventing Cropp from controlling successfully.
Cropp passes Parker's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Parker is trying to stand up here but Cropp is controlling him well.
Cropp trying to control the action but Parker is working from the bottom.
Parker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cropp is nestled in close to Parker, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Cropp throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Cropp is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Parker is just riding it out for now. Cropp eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Parker is defending against the submission attempts here by Cropp.
Cropp thows a huge punch but Parker dodges it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cropp is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Cropp thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Parker's head.
Cropp thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Parker is refusing to be controlled, as Cropp sits in half guard.
Cropp with the ground and pound but Parker uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Cropp is looking to work some ground and pound but Parker has wrist control.
Cropp throws a big elbow that misses.
Cropp lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Karol Cropp will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Parker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice shot lands for Parker.
A telegraphed right hand from Cropp misses the target.
Cropp is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cropp tries to clinch but Parker moves out of range.
Parker tries a head kick but it misses.
Parker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Parker misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cropp throws out a powerful jab.
Cropp tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Parker counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Parker throws a head kick but Cropp moves out of range.
Parker is holding his hands too far apart here. Cropp throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Parker is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Karol Cropp!
