The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garkov slaps away a takedown attempt from Light, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Garkov drops Light with a right and a left! Garkov comes rushing in but Light regains his composure and manages to keep Garkov in guard.

Light is rocked!
Garkov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've been hearing that Garkov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Garkov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Garkov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Garkov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Light wants to stand and escape but Garkov is having none of it.
Garkov throws a big elbow that misses.
Garkov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garkov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Garkov works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Garkov creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Light is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Garkov has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Garkov shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Light eats them both and turns towards Garkov to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Light stuffs the takedown.

Light is still in real trouble! Can Garkov finish him?

It looks like Natty Light has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Garkov stands up over Light, holding on to his feet. Garkov throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Light is out cold! Garkov lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
