Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pillow Hands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pillow Hands!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alvarez looking to score a takedown here. Hands is defending well but Alvarez drives through and ends up in Hands's guard.
Alvarez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hands working a defensive guard but Alvarez passes into half guard.
Alvarez slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hands has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alvarez is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarez controlling the action here.
Let's hope that Alvarez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hands trying to control but Alvarez postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nick Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alvarez tries to keep at a distance but Hands has taken the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hands just misses with a elbow thrown towards Alvarez's brow.

A hook to the body from Hands.
Hands swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hands trying to land knees to the body.
Alvarez lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hands backwards.
Hands tries to work over Alvarez's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Alvarez tightens his grip and picks Hands up, before dumping him to the ground. Hands manages to land in guard.
Hands has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Alvarez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hands wants to improve his position but instead Alvarez has moved into half guard.
Well, if Alvarez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Alvarez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hands reverses the position - he's now on top in Alvarez's guard.

Alvarez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hands passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hands wants to work for an arm triangle but Alvarez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nick Alvarez will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Hands clinches up against the cage.

Alvarez jumps guard and drags Hands to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hands throws a big elbow that misses.
Alvarez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hands.
Alvarez is trying to keep Hands in close.

Alvarez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hands doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hands manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Alvarez wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alvarez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hands gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hands stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Alvarez has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Hands manages to get his head free but now Alvarez has transitioned to an armbar! Hands grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Alvarez! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nick Alvarez!
Nick Alvarez is the new welterweight champion!
After winning the bout, Nick Alvarez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
