PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Zimbardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lane Herman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herman takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Herman.

Herman clinches up against the cage.
Zimbardo tries to break free but Herman pushes him back against the cage.

Herman lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Zimbardo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Zimbardo tries to get out of the position.
Zimbardo wants to control but Herman is keeping busy.
Zimbardo is looking to improve his position.
Zimbardo has hold of Herman's hands but Herman slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zimbardo is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Herman is working for a submission of some sort.
Herman trying to mount his opponent but Zimbardo defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Herman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Herman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Zimbardo keeping hold of Herman's head, controlling as best he can.
Zimbardo is looking to improve his position.
Herman trying to pass the guard but Zimbardo defending well.
Herman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Zimbardo is doing well to control the position and prevent Herman from advancing to side control.
Zimbardo wants to improve his position but Herman is controlling well.
Zimbardo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Herman on the ground.

Herman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zimbardo is just riding it out for now. Herman eventually gives up the hold.
Zimbardo is trying to get back to full guard.
Zimbardo is not content to let Herman control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Herman prevents Zimbardo from improving his position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Herman closes the distance but Zimbardo moves to the side
and Zimbardo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Herman's knee momentarily.
Herman misses with a takedown
and Zimbardo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Herman doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Zimbardo counters with a two punch combo.
Bruce Zimbardo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lane Herman.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Herman.
Zimbardo cracks Herman with a good jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice cross by Zimbardo.
Zimbardo lands with a kick to the temple. Herman shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
We've been informed that Herman has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Herman fails with the takedown
and Zimbardo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zimbardo plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
A solid leg kick lands there for Zimbardo.
Zimbardo cracks a nice hook into Herman's ribs.
Zimbardo throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Herman.
Zimbardo scores with a sloppy right hand. Herman should have avoided that one.
Zimbardo lands a head kick. Herman smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Zimbardo cracks Herman with an open hand slap.
Zimbardo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Herman is rocked!
Herman wants to stay close but Zimbardo steps back to make room for something. Herman seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Zimbardo and Herman drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
