Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fritz Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ze Velaskis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fritz Gates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ze Velaskis!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Gates. Those never looked like landing.
Ze Velaskis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velaskis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Velaskis.
Gates went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Gates gets a takedown into half guard.
Gates wants to stand up but Velaskis has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Gates controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gates wants to work for an arm triangle but Velaskis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velaskis can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gates winds up and cracks Velaskis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gates is trying to work for a kimura but Velaskis is defending well.

Gates decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Velaskis gets caught flat footed, as Gates shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Velaskis is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Gates dives into side control.


Gates tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gates has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Velaskis is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Gates remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gates has hold of Velaskis's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Velaskis seems comfortable defending it but Gates has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Velaskis is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Velaskis is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gates couldn't care less - he's delighted!
