Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Ludo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean Ludo looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ludo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Ludo's guard.
Ludo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Smith's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smith lands a nice short elbow.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Smith stands up and beckons Ludo to join him on the feet.

Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ludo!

Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ludo, who protects the arm well.
Ludo wants to control but Smith postures up.
Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ludo's shoulder. That is not cool.

Smith decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Smith shoots in and bounces Ludo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Smith is stalling in the full guard.
Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ludo for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ludo wants to get back to his feet but Smith is dominant here and he's now got Ludo's back!
Ralph Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Smith is looking for the choke from the back position but Ludo is controlling his hands well.
Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ludo can do to turn this around?
A bit of a pause in the action here. Smith controlling the positon.
Smith continues to stall.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Smith is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Ludo has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Smith has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Ludo taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Smith doesn't care though - he's delighted!
