The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avsketij paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Avsketij fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Avsketij rushes Hayes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Avsketij swings wildly with an uppercut but Hayes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Avsketij blocks an elbow strike.
Hayes blocks an uppercut.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hayes just misses with a elbow thrown towards Avsketij's brow.
Hayes throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hayes tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hayes blocks an uppercut.
Avsketij throws a punch but it's blocked by Hayes.
Avsketij stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Avsketij goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Avsketij softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Hayes tries to throw a body punch but Avsketij avoids it by throwing Hayes back against the cage.
Avsketij lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Hayes struggles to land a body shot inside as Avsketij controls his hands.
Avsketij scores with a shoulder strike.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Avsketij digs a right hand into Hayes's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Hayes's gas tank.
Avsketij blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A short body shot lands from Avsketij as the two fighters clinch.

Hayes pushes off an throws an elbow but Avsketij leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Hayes tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Hayes using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Avsketij has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A right handed body shot lands from Avsketij.
Hayes is breathing heavily.
Avsketij lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Avsketij lands with a left to the head.
Avsketij working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Avsketij lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hayes or not.
Hayes tries a knee to the head but Avsketij blocks it.
Avsketij lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Hayes is rocked!
Avsketij working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Oh Hayes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Avsketij creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Hayes with a big uppercut! Hayes tries to clinch up but Avsketij pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Hayes to the mat! Hayes covers up and Avsketij unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
