Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fredric Brannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Martell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Fredric Brannon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Fredric Brannon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brannon loads up on a big right hand but Martell slips the punch.
Martell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brannon.
Martell throws a solid leg kick but Brannon takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Martell.

Martell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Martell is looking to advance position but Brannon won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

I was talking to Brannon's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Martell has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brannon uses from the top position.
Brannon is looking to advance position but Martell has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Brannon wants to hold on but Martell pushes him away.
Martell can't control as he wanted to and Brannon manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Martell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Martell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brannon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brannon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Martell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Martell's back!
Martell is trying to stand back up.
Brannon has the hooks in. Martell is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

A close round but Charles Martell will probably get the nod.

Martell tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brannon defends well and Martell ends up having to push Brannon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Martell controls Brannon momentarily but Brannon frees himself.

Brannon drops back looking for a leg! Martell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Martell manages to kick Brannon off! Brannon jumps back into Martell's guard.
Brannon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martell can do to turn this around?

Brannon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Martell is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Brannon, into his guard.

Brannon has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Martell after a bit of a struggle.

Martell is pressed up against the cage. Brannon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Martell down to the mat. Martell avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

As Brannon backs off Martell throws a huge counter combo but Brannon manages to avoid it all.

Martell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Martell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brannon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Martell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brannon, pushing him back against the cage.

Martell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Martell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Martell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brannon defends it easily.
Brannon postures up in Martell's guard and throws a big left but Martell blocks it.
Brannon wants to control from the top but Martell keeps moving.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fredric Brannon.
