Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Canela De La Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roscoe Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roscoe Jenkins is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Canela De La Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Roscoe Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jenkins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. De La Cruz sprawls well initially but Jenkins persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jenkins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jenkins thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jenkins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
De La Cruz works his way to full guard. Good work.
De La Cruz has momentary wrist control but Jenkins slips an elbow through the middle.
Jenkins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jenkins drops back looking for a leg! De La Cruz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and De La Cruz manages to kick Jenkins off! Jenkins jumps back into De La Cruz's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roscoe Jenkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

De La Cruz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jenkins shoots in and bounces De La Cruz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Jenkins tries to counter with a clinch but De La Cruz shakes him off and moves away.

Jenkins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. De La Cruz quickly recovers to half guard.

De La Cruz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jenkins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jenkins's back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - De La Cruz's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
De La Cruz is striking well from the back but Jenkins escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jenkins keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of De La Cruz's head.

De La Cruz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jenkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jenkins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

De La Cruz has his foot on Jenkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jenkins works his way back into a safe position though.

Jenkins stands and steps away. De La Cruz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jenkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. De La Cruz manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Jenkins gets control of De La Cruz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jenkins will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

De La Cruz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jenkins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jenkins lands a couple of decent looking shots.
De La Cruz has momentary wrist control but Jenkins slips an elbow through the middle.
De La Cruz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Canela De La Cruz will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


De La Cruz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jenkins paws at him with a jab and circles away.
De La Cruz shoots for a double leg takedown but Jenkins sprawls well. He's pushed De La Cruz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jenkins closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jenkins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks De La Cruz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
De La Cruz wants to get back to his feet.

De La Cruz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jenkins.
De La Cruz pushes Jenkins off looking to stand but Jenkins dives back in and keeps control.

De La Cruz wants to control but Jenkins is keeping busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jenkins scores with a big shot! De La Cruz's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save De La Cruz! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
