PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rusev Hungary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kenny meets his father "Eduardo Sanchez". The key to victory for Rusev Hungary has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rusev Hungary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eduardo Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hungary rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sanchez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hungary on his heels. He'll look to pass Hungary's guard now, I'm sure.
Sanchez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hungary really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hungary is looking to stand up but Sanchez isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanchez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hungary manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Sanchez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hungary lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Hungary sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sanchez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hungary is trying to defend but Sanchez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Sanchez postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hungary to stand up.
Hungary feints a jab promting Sanchez to slip. Hungary then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sanchez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sanchez shoots for a takedown but Hungary saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hungary moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Sanchez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sanchez stops Hungary from getting back to his feet.

Sanchez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Sanchez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hungary looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rusev Hungary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eduardo Sanchez.
Hungary throws a series of punches but Sanchez moves out of range.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sanchez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hungary shoots in but no luck this time.
Hungary will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hungary is breathing heavily.
Hungary tries to clinch there but Sanchez circles away.
Hungary throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hungary stuffs the takedown.
Hungary bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sanchez's head.
Hungary scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Sanchez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hungary manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Hungary scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Hungary, which made it look bad.
A combination from Hungary does no damage.
No joy there for Hungary, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rusev Hungary dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hungary looks to land a combination but Sanchez avoids it well.
Hungary looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hungary throws a nice looking combination but Sanchez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hungary as he avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Hungary. No joy for Sanchez on that attempt.
Rusev Hungary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eduardo Sanchez.
Hungary throws a left and a right that both miss

so Sanchez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sanchez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Sanchez controls the position.
Hungary knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.

Sanchez thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Sanchez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hungary manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Sanchez slows the pace down.
Sanchez is continuing to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sanchez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hungary to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hungary lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanchez circles away quickly and effectively.

Sanchez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hungary was covering up waiting for the punch and Sanchez finishes the takedown easily into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eduardo Sanchez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Hungary is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Let's hope that Sanchez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Sanchez is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Hungary has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sanchez has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Hungary taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sanchez doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Eduardo Sanchez!
In his post fight interview, Eduardo Sanchez started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
