Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marc Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marc Burnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George Pearson!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pearson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Burnett has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pearson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Pearson shoots in and bounces Burnett off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Burnett is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Pearson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pearson is trying to break the clinch but Burnett has him pressed against the cage.
Pearson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Burnett has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Pearson tries to stall but Burnett uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Burnett lands with a short shot to the head.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Burnett.
Burnett unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Pearson is looking to break free of the clinch but Burnett has double underhooks.
Burnett misses with a knee to the head.

Burnett pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pearson dives in and scores a takedown into Burnett's guard.

Burnett pushes Pearson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burnett fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pearson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pearson moves out of range of the body kick from Burnett.

Pearson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Burnett explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Pearson looks winded!
Pearson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Burnett is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Burnett takes the fight into the clinch.

Pearson has hold of one of Burnett's legs. Burnett is fighting the takedown attempt but Pearson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Burnett pushes Pearson off and gets back to his feet.

Burnett closes the distance and clinches.

Burnett lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Pearson pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Burnett is in close to Pearson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burnett gets to his feet. Pearson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Pearson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Burnett pushes Pearson off and gets back to his feet.
Pearson moves out of range as Burnett throws a body kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pearson enables Burnett to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pearson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Pearson is wriggling around but Burnett manages to pass to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Burnett is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Burnett scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Pearson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Burnett with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Burnett gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Pearson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burnett manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Burnett pushes Pearson off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Burnett darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Burnett's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Burnett throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pearson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Burnett is in Pearson's guard.
Pearson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burnett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burnett stands up and waves to Pearson to follow him.

Burnett has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pearson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burnett looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Burnett bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Pearson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Burnett can't fight it off and eventually Pearson manages to take the fight to the floor. Burnett looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Burnett kicks Pearson off and gets to his feet.

Burnett decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Pearson pushes Burnett off but Burnett dives into side control.

Burnett is staying tight to Pearson's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Burnett stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Burnett throws a head kick that misses.
Pearson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Pearson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Burnett gets to his feet - Pearson follows without any prompting.
Burnett feints and then cracks Pearson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pearson down.
Burnett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pearson can do to turn this around?
Burnett fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pearson avoids it really well and circles away.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Pearson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burnett paws at him with a jab and circles away.
It looked like Burnett wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burnett closes the distance and clinches up with Pearson, looking for a takedown. Burnett pushes Pearson against the cage but Pearson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pearson tries to close the distance and clinch but Burnett swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Burnett checks a low kick from Pearson.
Pearson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Burnett does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Pearson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Burnett on his heels. He'll look to pass Burnett's guard now, I'm sure.

Burnett has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Pearson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Burnett lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pearson backwards.

Burnett manages to break the clinch.
Pearson misses with a double jab
and Burnett counters with a three punch combo that has Pearson backing up. Pearson nods at Burnett to acknowledge the strikes.

Burnett dives in and scores a takedown into Pearson's guard.
Pearson is looking to stand back up but Burnett counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pearson.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Burnett stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Burnett connects with a couple of short punches.
Burnett is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Burnett's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Pearson controls Burnett momentarily but Burnett frees himself.

Burnett stands and steps away. Pearson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Pearson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Burnett manages to pass to side control.

Burnett lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Burnett stands up out of the half guard.
Burnett tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Burnett fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pearson, pushing him back against the cage.
Burnett lands with a light punch inside.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Burnett.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marc Burnett showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Burnett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
