Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shah Rokhan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Butt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Butt acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shah Rokhan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Butt!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rokhan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Butt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rokhan avoids the head kick by Butt.
Rokhan misses with a series of wild punches.
Butt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Butt thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rokhan if he has to take too many more of those.
Rokhan stuffs the takedown attempt from Butt. Butt gets slowly back to his feet.
Rokhan shoots in for a takedown but Butt shows good takedown defense.
Butt throws a right and a left that both miss.

Rokhan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Butt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Butt manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Rokhan wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butt throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Butt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Butt tries to pass to full mount but Rokhan defends it.
Butt not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Butt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Butt wants to stand but Rokhan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Butt missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Butt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Butt scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Butt prevents Rokhan from improving his position.
Rokhan keeping hold of Butt's head, controlling as best he can.

Rokhan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rokhan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Rokhan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Butt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rokhan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Butt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Butt is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Butt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rokhan has momentary wrist control but Butt slips an elbow through the middle.
Rokhan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Butt stands and throws Rokhan's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Butt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rokhan, who protects the arm well.
Butt looks gassed!
Butt misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Butt tries to get to his feet but Rokhan is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Butt in his guard.

Butt gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rokhan stalks Butt and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Butt's face. Butt staggers backwards, shaken.
Butt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rokhan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Butt!
Shah Rokhan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Butt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rokhan sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rokhan raining down shots from the mount!
Butt is trying desperately to improve position.
Rokhan lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Butt is trying to escape the mount.
Rokhan controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shah Rokhan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Butt has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rokhan.
Butt tries to clinch

so Rokhan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rokhan won't allow Butt to sweep him here.
Rokhan wants to control from the top but Butt keeps moving.
Butt wants to stand up but Rokhan is controlling him.
Rokhan passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Butt tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Rokhan presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Butt is desperately trying to improve his position but Rokhan has a good base and remains in mount.
Butt is breathing heavily.
Butt manages to regain half guard. Good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Butt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rokhan decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Rokhan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rokhan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Butt will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Butt tries to improve position but can't.
Rokhan wants to control but Butt is keeping him busy.

Rokhan decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Butt tries to land a front kick but Rokhan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rokhan has Butt up against the cage in a clinch.
Butt goes for a takedown attempt but Rokhan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Butt throws a series of punches but Rokhan avoids them all with ease.
Butt tries to clinch but Rokhan is having none of it.

Rokhan has closed the distance and engaged Butt in a clinch.
Butt misses with an elbow over the top.
Butt is working for takedown but Rokhan is calmly controlling the position for now.
Rokhan leaning his opponent against the cage.
Rokhan is trying to maintain a safe position but Butt gets an underhook and turns Rokhan into the cage.
Butt has Rokhan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rokhan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Shah Rokhan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Butt.
Rokhan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Rokhan decides to pull guard.

Rokhan uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Butt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rokhan won't allow Butt to get back to his feet.
Butt looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rokhan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rokhan controlling the action here.

Rokhan decides to stand and escape the position.
Butt doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rokhan counters with a takedown into side control.
Rokhan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Butt regains half guard.

Butt wants to stand back up but Rokhan manages to pass into side control.
Butt tries to escape but Rokhan is in control.
Butt is looking for a sweep.
Butt is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rokhan has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Rokhan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rokhan feints and as Butt raises his hands in defense, Rokhan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Butt tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Butt has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rokhan has passed into side control.
Rokhan controlling from side mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shah Rokhan dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Butt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Butt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Butt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rokhan loads up on a big right hand but Butt slips the punch.
Butt is looking to clinch.
Butt circles away from the clinch attempt
and Butt counters with a low kick, right behind Rokhan 's knee.
Rokhan tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Butt counters with a takedown into side control.
Rokhan wants to control but Butt postures up.
Shah Rokhan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Butt working the ground and pound.
Butt scores with a couple of short elbows.
Butt throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rokhan is trying to control Butt's posture but Butt avoids it.
Butt throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Butt in side control lands a decent elbow.
Butt working away.
Butt tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rokhan's legs.

Butt is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rokhan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Butt is trying to ground and pound but Rokhan uses the momentary lack of control by Butt to regain half guard.
Butt misses with a head shot. Rokhan uses the momentum to regain guard.
John Butt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Butt stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Rokhan has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Butt manages to get his head free but now Rokhan has transitioned to an armbar! Butt grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Rokhan! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Shah Rokhan!
