PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Point Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan has chosen Beast as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Point Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ryan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Fighter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ryan.
Fighter throws a body punch but Ryan moves out of range.
Fighter misses with a body punch
and Ryan counters with a one-two to the body.
Fighter looks to land a right hand but Ryan moved out of range.
Nice cross by Fighter.
Ryan tries to move into range but Fighter moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Fighter misses with a body shot
letting Ryan counter with a right hand.
Fighter throws a hook but Ryan blocks it.
Fighter looks to land a left hand but Ryan moved out of range nicely.
Ryan looks to land a body kick but Fighter moved away.
Ryan blocks a jab.
Fighter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fighter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fighter sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Fighter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ryan defending well though.
Ryan tries to kick Fighter off but Fighter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ryan told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Fighter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ryan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Fighter throwing strikes from guard but Ryan blocks nicely.

Ryan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fighter trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fighter controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ryan keeping moving, preventing Fighter from controlling successfully.
Ryan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fighter moves away from the strike by Ryan.
Point Fighter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ryan tries to land a leg kick but Fighter saw it coming and moves away.
Ryan moves out of range as Fighter strikes.
Ryan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A big left from Fighter misses.
Fighter throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ryan counters with a two punch combo.

Fighter drives through with a takedown into Ryan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ryan manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ryan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fighter shoots for a takedown but Ryan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fighter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ryan.
Fighter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ryan.
Fighter misses the shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ryan stalks Fighter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Fighter's face. Fighter staggers backwards, shaken.

and Ryan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Fighter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ryan is trying to defend but Fighter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fighter is just content to waste time from the top position. Ryan takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Fighter wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.
Fighter postures up in Ryan's guard and throws a big left but Ryan blocks it.
Ryan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fighter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andrew Ryan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ryan stuffs the takedown.
Ryan unleashes a big counter combination but Fighter bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Fighter throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Ryan counters by clinching up.
Ryan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Fighter.
Fighter doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Fighter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A good leg kick by Ryan.
Fighter scores with a jab to the jaw.
Fighter throws a hook but Ryan blocks it.
No joy there for Fighter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Fighter checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Fighter tries to counter with a takedown but Ryan is quick to defend against it.
Ryan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ryan throws a combination that misses
and Fighter counters with a nice uppercut.
Fighter lands a head shot.
A lazy left from Fighter finds it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ryan on the side of the head.
Fighter connects with a crisp jab.

Ryan closes the distance and clinches.
Fighter tries to pull guard but Ryan holds him up against the cage and eventually Fighter drops back down to his feet.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Fighter is pushing Ryan up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Fighter managing to block the knees to the body from Ryan.

Fighter breaks from the clinch.
Ryan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fighter.
Fighter fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Point Fighter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nice defenses there by Fighter.
Fighter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ryans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ryan moves out of range as Fighter strikes.
Point Fighter is winning the standup battle so far.
Fighter misses with a lunging right hand
and Ryan counters with a straight right hand.
Fighter lands a right hook to the body.
Andrew Ryan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ryan misses with a head kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fighter connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Fighter jabs Ryan right on the nose. Ryan blinks but takes it well.
Fighter lands with a hook. Ryan tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Fighter connects with a body shot.
Fighter goes for a double leg but Ryan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ryan continues to drive forward.
Fighter lands a nice shot to the body.

Ryan on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Ryan tries to clinch but Fighter is having none of it.
Fighter lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ryan at a distance.
Ryan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ryan unleashes a big counter combination but Fighter bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Ryan throws a body shot but no joy.
Fighter misses with an uppercut.
Fighter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ryan but Ryan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fighter throws a series of punches but Ryan avoids them all with ease.
Ryan swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Fighter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A little jabbing left from Ryan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Fighter misses with a hook. Ryan ducked under it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ryan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Danga de danga de dang - Ryan scores with a four punch combination!
Fighter swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fighter misses with a left hand
and Ryan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ryan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Fighter jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Fighter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ryan slaps away a takedown attempt from Fighter, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ryan is looking for the big counter here.
Ryan slips a straight right by Fighter.
Fighter throws a jab when Ryan was well out of range.

Ryan has closed the distance and engaged Fighter in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Point Fighter dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Fighter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ryan.
Ryan throws a combination. Fighter tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Ryan moves out of range of the strikes.
Fighter listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Fighter changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Ryan misses with a double jab

Ryan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Fighter.
Fighter throws a right hand that Ryan ducks under and follows up with a left that Ryan also avoids with ease.
Fighter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ryan tries to avoid it but Fighter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ryan to the ground. Ryan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ryan slips under a jab from Fighter.
Ryan let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Ryan moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Fighter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ryan.
Ryan throws a nice outside leg kick.
Fighter swats away the attempt to clinch by Ryan.
Fighter connects with a crisp jab.
Fighter lands a jab-cross combination.


Ryan is rocked!
Fighter throws a series of punches but Ryan avoids them all with ease.
Ryan is still on wobbly legs! Can Fighter finish him?
Fighter lands a body shot.
Ryan looks to land a right hand but Fighter moved out of range.
Fighter comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fighter drops Ryan with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Ryan! Fighter dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Point Fighter!
Point Fighter seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
