The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Vieira drops Joyner with a beautiful combination! Joyner stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Vieira is looking for the KO!

It looks like Robert Joyner has been cut.

Joyner tries to keep at a distance but Vieira has taken the fight into the clinch.

Joyner works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vieira wants to sweep here but Joyner controlling him for the moment.

Vieira working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Joyner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Joyner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Vieira is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Joyner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vieira is proving hard to escape from.

Vieira tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Vieira escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Joyner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Joyner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vieira is fending him off so far but Joyner persists. Nope, Vieira circles away and we're back to standing.

Vieira forces Joyner back against the cage and clinches.

Joyner jumps guard but Vieira stands there with Joyner around his waist. Joyner gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Vieira must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vieira postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Vieira 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Joyner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vieira is controlling him.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Vieira wants to pass the guard but Joyner is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Vieira drives through and clinches with Joyner against the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joyner has a couple of punches blocked by Vieira .
A frustrated look appears on Vieira 's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Joyner tries to pull guard but Vieira holds him up against the cage and eventually Joyner drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Joyner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice right hand lands inside from Vieira .
Vieira is pushing Joyner up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Joyner fails to pull guard.
Joyner jumps guard but Vieira stands there with Joyner around his waist. Joyner gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Vieira lands a body punch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Joyner tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vieira smiles and moves away.

Vieira darts in and clinches Joyner up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Vieira tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Joyner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Joyner is looking for a counter combo.
Joyner fails to land the takedown.
Joyner wants to clinch
and Joyner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Joyner is rocked!

Vieira has managed to clinch.
Oh Joyner is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Vieira throws a big uppercut that drops Joyner! More strikes from Vieira and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Joyner lies dazed against the cage as Vieira celebrates with his cornermen!
