PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurokawa Kenji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Gruber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenji has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The key to victory for Kurokawa Kenji has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 44 - 26 - 1, fighting out of London, Kurokawa Kenji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hans Gruber!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gruber gets a double leg takedown into Kenji's guard.
Kenji is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gruber in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gruber is looking to take a break and control but Kenji is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gruber looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kenji with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Gruber seems content to control.
Gruber has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gruber seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kenji does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gruber lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.


Jeez, Kurokawa Kenji's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kurokawa Kenji's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Hans Gruber!
