The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Myda defends it nicely.
Myda throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Myda misses with a straight left.
Machado darts in looking for a takedown but Myda gets double underhooks and turns Machado into the cage.
Machado moves out of range of the strikes.

Myda throws a looping overhand right but Machado ducks down to avoid it.

Machado shoots in for a takedown but Myda shows good takedown defense.
A little feinted left hand from Myda on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Thiago Myda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Machado.
Myda fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Machado on the side of the head.
Myda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Machado.
Nice jab there from Myda.
Machado moves away from the strike by Myda.
Machado is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Machado has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Myda is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Machado throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Myda tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Machado is in Myda's guard.
Myda knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machado on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Machado is pushing down on Myda's leg trying to pass to half guard. Myda is fighting to maintain full guard but Machado has managed to sneak the leg through.

Machado is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Myda is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
