PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karsten Feigel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karsten Feigel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henderson doesn't manage to clinch there - Feigel circles away.

Henderson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Feigel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Henderson lands a few punches from side control.

Henderson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Feigel, who protects the arm well.

Henderson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Feigel to his feet.
Feigel has his takedown stuffed

and Henderson counters with a takedown into side control.

Henderson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Henderson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Feigel's shoulder. That is not cool.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Feigel tries to buck Henderson off but Henderson is having none of it.
Feigel is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Henderson is taking a breather. Feigel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Feigel moves into full guard.
Henderson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Feigel had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Henderson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Feigel Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Henderson's back instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Henderson tries to roll but Feigel sticks to his back.

Feigel is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Henderson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Henderson for a finish.

Henderson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Henderson can't escape the position.

Feigel has control of Henderson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Henderson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Henderson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Henderson wants to hold on but Feigel pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Feigel is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Henderson.

and Henderson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Feigel won't be happy with that.

Henderson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Henderson.

Henderson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Henderson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Feigel is looking for a sweep.

Feigel prevents Henderson from moving into mount.
Henderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Feigel on the ground.

Henderson stands up and beckons Feigel to his feet.
Feigel swats away the attempt to clinch by Henderson.

and Henderson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Feigel's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Feigel wants to sweep but no luck.
Henderson wants to control from the top but Feigel keeps moving.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Henderson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Henderson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Feigel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Henderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Henderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Feigel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Henderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Feigel is trying to keep Henderson in close.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Henderson takes a swing at Feigel's ribcage but misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Henderson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Feigel's guard.
Henderson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Henderson wants to stand but Feigel has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Henderson gets to his feet - Feigel follows without any prompting.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Feigel ducks right into an uppercut from Henderson.

Henderson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Henderson dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Feigel gets caught flat footed, as Henderson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Feigel can't keep his opponent in guard - Henderson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Still in half guard, Henderson seems content to control.
Dan Henderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Henderson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Feigel gets full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Henderson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Feigel is proving hard to escape from.

Feigel has his foot on Henderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Henderson works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Feigel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Feigel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Karsten Feigel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Henderson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Henderson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Henderson tries to get out of the position.

Dan Henderson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Henderson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
